We recently completed a comprehensive Stage 2 ECU and TCU tune on a 2023 GWM Tank, significantly enhancing its performance and driving dynamics. This project also included the installation of a custom Launch Control system, providing the vehicle with a powerful and responsive start every time. The process began with a thorough evaluation of the GWM Tank’s stock performance.
Understanding the vehicle’s baseline allowed us to tailor the Stage 2 tuning specifically to its engine and transmission setup. We then proceeded to recalibrate the Engine Control Unit (ECU) using our advanced tuning tools, including the Alientech Kess3.
This ECU tune focused on optimising fuel delivery, ignition timing, and turbo boost pressure, effectively increasing horsepower and torque. Simultaneously, we performed a Stage 2 Transmission Control Unit (TCU) tune to refine the gear shift patterns and improve transmission response.
This adjustment resulted in quicker, smoother shifts and allowed the vehicle to handle the increased power output more efficiently. The TCU tune also included optimising shift points to ensure that the engine remains within its most powerful RPM range during acceleration.
To further enhance the driving experience, we installed a custom Launch Control system. This feature is designed to provide maximum traction and acceleration from a standstill, making the GWM Tank more agile and responsive off the line. The Launch Control system was meticulously integrated and tested to ensure it functioned seamlessly with the upgraded ECU and TCU.
After completing the tuning process, the GWM Tank exhibited a significant improvement in overall performance. The vehicle now boasts increased power and torque, sharper throttle response, and a more engaging driving experience. The custom Launch Control adds an extra layer of excitement, allowing the driver to confidently launch the vehicle with precision and power.
